Ryanair's "Shut the f*ck up because we are really cheap" video
I came across this video where apparently Ryanair tells people to "Shut the f*ck up because we are really cheap"...I am not sure whether this is really a Ryanair campaign or it is some creative agency going viral by piggy-backing on the Irish airline's reputation for rudeness...
Either way, there are some valid points in the video. Personally I have no problem with non-reclinable, plastic seats, hand luggage restrictions or even an ugly website, it's a perfectly legitimate business model...
However, I do have an issue with businesses and staff that bully their clients and this is why, in spite of my many years as a regular Ryanair customer, I stopped flying with them 18 months ago, after one of their staff shouted at me at the boarding gate. My hand luggage was one kilogram overweight and when I tried to rearrange my items I was told I had to stuff my coat inside the trolley as well, as this was obviously not true and I made it clear to the lady, that by now was already plain agressive, she then went on claiming that by having placed a book and a mobile charger in each of my coat's pockets I had become an "encumbrance and a safety risk".
Ok, you won, you got my extra £40 (I heard they increased the amount since then) and your member of staff got her slice (0.5p or even £1?), but you you won't get any of my business anymore, unless I have no other travel alternative to get to my destination (for example, let's say, if I need to fly to some small town in the middle of Italy) or if it is ridiculously cheap, by "ridiculously cheap" I mean very close to free.
Neither of these two circumstances has materialized yet...I usually check your prices but I don't find you that cheap anymore, at best marginally cheaper, but not cheap enough to subject myself to the arbitrariness of your staff in addition to all the aforementioned incoveniences...and, at least on the routes I usually fly, you often are no longer the cheapest!
