Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

SAS has launched two types of tickets, Go Smart and Plus Pro, which takes into account the cost of purchasing 50% SAF for an average journey (depending on whether it is domestic in Scandinvia or intra-European). Like in many such schemes, the SAF is not added to a specific flight, but added to an airline-wide procurement pool. READ.

Iberia wants to produce SAF in the Canary Islands. READ.

Also in Spain, Wizz Air is going to use locally produced SAF on its Spanish routes. The SAF is going to be produced by CEPSA using organic residues, such as waste cooking oil. READ.

The Sustainable Aviation Buyer’s Alliance (SABA), which groups together some prominent American corporations, such as JPMorgan, Meta or Boston Consulting Group, announced the purchase of SAF certificates linked to 850,000 gallons of SAF. READ.

The Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), which gathers several major organisations in the aviation industry, has published a “Beginner’s Guide to Sustainable Aviation Fuel”. READ.
