Dassault Falcon 6X getting ready for first flight
Word came out of France that the Falcon 6X executive jet is on track for its first flight early next year.
If all goes well, the Falcon 6X - which contrary to what the name may suggest is actually a newer and larger executive jet than the preceding Falcon 7X and 8X - will be airborne for the first time already by early 2021.
Despite the pandemic, work continues at good pace at Dassault’s French plants. The first three airframes, all devoted to the testing and certification programme are already at different stages of production, with the first one having already received its engines.
Visitors at the latest RUBAE show, that took place in Moscow last September, however, could already get a feel of the airplane by visiting a full size mock-up, complete with cabin interior. As reported in this piece I wrote for AirInsight about the very prominent Dassault Falcon 6X presence at the Russian executive jet show.
Here you can check some of the pictures I took during my visit to the Falcon 6X mock-up that was exhibited at RUBAE.
One detail that caught my eye: notice the cabin roof window!
To this we can also add some pictures that have been facilitated by Dassault of the work currently underway to get the Falcon 6X ready for this very first flight.
Those of you interested in executive aviation may want to check out as well the podcast I recorded recently with PrivateFly’s founder and CEO, Adam Twidell, where we discuss several aspects of this fascinating industry.
