Cool Japan & ANA's Kabuki Safety Video
I have lost count already of the many very cool safety videos that airlines keep releasing (this month, for example, already had two great examples, as Qantas and Air New Zealand released their latest safety videos) and I must confess this one had escaped my attention, although it had first been released over a year ago!
But ANA’s kabuki-themed safety video is certainly one of the best I have seen so far. It is no wonder that this little masterpiece, drawing from Japanese artistic traditions, and very particularly “kabuki”, a Japanese traditional form of theatre, has got the Grand Prix at the Cool Japan Matching Award 2019.
In any case, I have little doubt that airline safety videos are already an artistic genre on their own and I wouldn’t be surprised if PhD thesis and books start to be produced about them…
I could go on and on, but, as is typical in these cases, best is that you watch it by yourselves!
By the way, besides the video, those of you interested in ANA may want to check our chronicle of the airline’s first A380 Honu aircraft delivery, that we were fortunate enough to attend in Toulouse last year.
