New podcast episode with Ian Brooke, founder of jet engine startup Astro Mechanica

On this episode of the podcast we welcome Ian Brooke, a through and through entrepreneur who, with one successful venture under his belt, has gone on to found Astro Mechanica.

This Bay Area startup, which is backed by the famous Y Combinator accelerator program, is aiming to disrupt the aerospace propulsion industry by developing a new type of jet engine called Electric Adaptive Engine.

This technology, which decouples the engine’s performance from the aircraft’s speed, could have a whole range of interesting applications, most notably in defense, but also, potentially in space and commercial aviation.

So, Ian came onto the podcast to share some details about the company he leads and what he’s been up to. We talk about the novel elements of the electric adaptive engine technology, its choice of liquified natural gas as fuel and the challenges and opportunities that he sees ahead…
