Umiles presents new Spanish eVTOL
Quite a few interesting projects coming out of Spain lately. A few days ago we commented how Air Nostrum may become the launch customer of new generation airships, Dante Aeronautical’s Australian joint venture (Dovetail ) announced a 50-strong order for its electric propulsion kits and Umiles, a Spanish UAS company, presented its new eVTOL project.
This new manned eVTOL concept follows a smaller, unmanned one, which Umiles presented last year. This one, called Integrity 3, has a maximum take off weight (MTOW) of 1,300kg and a pyload of 300kg and is designed to carry two passengers and a pilot to distances of up to 125km, which is enough to fly within the Balearic Islands or between the islands and the mainland (a typical use case for aeronautical projects in Spain!)
Umiles presents as the main differentiating point of the Integrity 3 in the increasingly crowded eVTOL market its stability during take off and landing, which they attribute to a proprietary technology called FlyFree.
Its proponents are aiming at 2027 for the entry into service of this rather sleek-looking eVTOL, a mock up of which was on display at Expodrónica- World ATM Congress.
