First ACJ TwoTwenty opens world of luxury for A220

Last year, we noted how the launch of the executive version of the Airbus A220, designated as the ACJ TwoTwenty, opened up a whole new category in executive aviation. Essentially, it brings together the comfort of a converted regular airliner (the A220) and the economics of a high end purpose-built executive jet.

Well, 15 months later, the first of the TwoTwenties has been delivered to its launch customer, Comlux. In fact, while the aircraft has been delivered to executive jet specialist Comlux, the ultimate owner of this first TwoTwenty aircraft is FIVE, a Dubai-based hospitality, real estate and travel operator.

Comlux continues to have a key role in the TwoTwenty programme, taking care, at its Indianapolis facility, of cabin fitting for this and the next 14 units due to roll out of the Mirabel assembly line.

The secretive (& glamorous!) world of super high end private aircraft is the domain of a very small group of companies that I had the chance to portray in this popular CNN story a few years ago: “Luxury jets whisk VIPs to their destinations in flying palaces”.
