New podcast episode: airlines & the weather, with Victor de los Santos (SITA for Aircraft)
Every pilot must pay particular attention to the weather.
What sort of meteorological events can affect your flight? How do airlines and pilots prepare for them? With which tools?
This is a side of flying that most regular passengers pay little attention to and, yet, it features prominently in the minds of pilots and airline planners. It is not just the comfort and safety of the ride, but also the fact that going through severe turbulence or, for example, an area with high altitude ice crystals, can even damage the engines of an aircraft and ground it for some time.
On today’s episode, the first of a 4-part series done in partnership with SITA for Aircraft, we explore, together with Victor de los Santos, product manager for SITA’s eWAS Pilot solution, the meteorological aspects of commercial aviation and how digitalisation offers the opportunity to add new layers of information, aggregate sources and deploy analytical tools that make flying easier for pilots, more efficient for airlines and more comfortable for passengers.
