New podcast episode: former US Navy "top gun" pilot an seaplane entrepreneur, Rob Ceravolo
“The hardest thing in aviation is space flight, next come carrier operations and seaplanes” says Rob Ceravolo, a man that has mastered the latter two.
Rob used to be a F-14 fighter pilot and dogfight instructor before leaving the Navy to set up Tropic Ocean Airways, a seaplane airline based in Florida that has been opening bases in the Caribbean and New York.
We talked about his “top gun” career but also about the growth of Tropic Ocean Airways and, more generally, about seaplanes. In which ways they differ from conventional aircraft? What are the pros and cons of seaplanes? What do you need to run a successful seaplane operation?
