Dassault rolls out its newest jet: the Falcon 6X
A new aircraft type rollout is well worth a post, even more if we are talking of a beautiful technical marvel like the Dassault Falcon 6X.
The pandemic has not prevented the French aerospace manufacturer from rolling out the. latest addition to the Falcon executive jet family today in Mérignac, near Bordeaux, in the Southwest of France.
The Falcon 6X claims to have the tallest and widest cabin in business aviation (I guess this excludes airliner derivatives), which is convenient for the sort of very long range trips it has been designed for (the Falcon 6X has a range of 5,500nm reach or just above 10,000km if you use the metric system).
Interestingly is capable to reach speeds close to the speed of sound (Mach 0.9) but, if necessary, it can also fly as slow as 109 knots, a feature that, apparently, comes in handy if you intend to land at certain airports with short runways.
Today was the official unveiling, broadcasted live on youtube (you can replay the whole event in the video below) but readers of this blog had already got some glimpses of the new Dassault jet.
So I thought it would be a good idea to compile the writings and picture galleries I have been publishing the previous months about the Falcon 6X:
“Dassault Falcon 6X getting ready for first flight” (July 2020)
My piece for AirInsight with pictures of the Falcon 6X mockup I was able to visit in September 2019 at RUBAE, the Moscow executive jet show (with some of the interiors we have seen today at the presentation)
And not strictly Dassault or specifically about the Falcon executive jet family, but would recommend also checking out this podcast with PrivateFly’s Adam Twidell where he provides an overview about the world of executive aviation and the different private jet categories that exist
And, of course, some pictures (courtesy of Dassault Aviation) to wrap up this post!
