New pics & video of last Tu-154 commercial flight
In case you missed it, a few days ago we covered the last commercial flight of a Tupolev Tu-154 in Russia, operated by Alrosa.
Well, I thought it worth revisiting this topic, because Russian mathematician and aviation enthusiast Maria Karmanova (who was a guest on podcast #20 explaining her work restoring a former Aeroflot Tu-104 aircraft), happened to be on that flight and has sent me some amazing pictures and footage!
All pictures and video by Maria Karmanova (if you wish to learn more about her Tupolev Tu-104 restoration project, in addition to the podcast, you can also check out this piece I wrote for CNN)
This very last Tu-154 flight, between the Siberian cities of Mirniy and Novosibirsk, also included a low pass over Mirniy’s giant open pit mine! (which you can easily see in the images!) Because…how often you do a low pass over the world’s largest open pit diamond mine?
A video of the low pass over Mirniy’s giant diamond mine
Aaaaaand….here’s a video of the whole flight:
