They are a world apart from the giant glass and steel airports that dominate today’s air travel experience.

Built in some of the most remote inhabited outposts in the World, the wooden airports that service some of Russia’s Arctic and Siberian regions have a rather unique character.

Some are little more than huts, others have an interesting war-time history…they are scattered over millions of square miles of sparsely populated lands, provuuiding a vital lifeline for those living brave enough to live in the middle of the wilderness.
