On CNN: Australians restore Lockheed Super Connie

It was found at an aircraft graveyard next to Manila airport, in the Philippines, encrusted in mud, but still recoverable.

And, then, it was put up for auction…

Could the Qantas Founders Museum pass on such an opportunity?

Of course not!

The Lockheed Super Constellation has a place of honour in the history of Qantas and, by extension, of Australian commercial aviation.

Luckily, the effort and investment of a bunch of enthusiasts has paid off and the beautiful Super Connie, restored to its former glory in Qantas colours (although this particular aircraft never flew for Qantas) will be soon on display in its new home in Queensland.
