Iberia and Austrian to introduce Premium Economy
A couple of European airlines are joining the Premium Economy club.
The first of them is Iberia, that has just presented its Premium Economy product. As the company likes to boast, it is going to be the only airline to offer this service on direct routes between Spain and Latin America.
Starting next year, Iberia is going to roll out Premium Economy across its long haul fleet. In particular it is planning to install it on 8 A330s, 13 A340s and the 16 state-of-the-art A350s that the Spanish airline will start receiving from 2018.
For those of you that are into comparing seat pitches, Iberia's premium economy seats will be 48cm (18.9 inches) wide and a seat pitch of 94cm (37 inches). The seats are also said to recline 40% more than standard economy class seats.
The other European flag carrier that is opting for Economy Premium is Austrian Airlines, although installation on its Boeing 767 and Boeing 777 fleet won't be starting until late next year...
