A map of all the World's airports and other landing places

This map has been on social networks for already some time, so it is likely you have come across it already, nevertheless I could not resist the temptation to post it here too since it is one of a kind.

The map shows all landing places in the World, that is airports, aerodromes, etc. based on data from Ourairports.com, a project we expect to be able to report on shortly. 

A couple of observations on my side: 

1) The US is a nation of fliers

2) Although there has been a lot of talk about there being too many airports in Spain, it does not look like it when comparing with its European neighbours (another matter is whether some particular projects have seen massive overinvestment, which is not incompatible with the total number of airports and aerodromes being relatively small)
