The Allplane Podcast #64: Airline NFTickets, with Facundo Díaz of TravelX

TravelX made headlines recently when it issued the first ever NFTicket for an airline.

An Air Europa Madrid-Miami business class ticket that had been “enriched” through the use of blockchain technology fetched over a million dollars in an open auction.

This ticket, which had been linked to a piece of digital art commissioned for this occasion, was one of a limited series of ten minted specifically for a Miami art show.

But, besides the hype, the catchy headlines and the art show glitter, TravelX and its founder, Facundo Díaz, believe blockchain technology opens up interesting avenues for airline tickets to become smart assets from which travellers and firms can derive much more value than they do today.

So, Facundo has come on the podcast to explain this vision and how airline tickets can be turned into smart contracts that support a whole range of uses, well beyond boarding a plane.

If you wish to learn more about how blockchain can potentially transform aspects of the travel experience that touch pretty much everyone of us, tune in for a fascinating conversation at the frontier of travel tech!
