On CNN: the return of Pan Am
Pan Am is, undoubtedly, one of the most iconic airlines in history. Pan Am was instrumental in defining the modern air travel experience, first in the 1930s, with the Clippers, then in the post-war years, with its instrumental role in the introduction of aircraft like the Boeing 707 and 747, which are still the basis of modern airliner design.
Pan Am closed down in the early 1990s but its brand continues to be both a source of inspiration and nostalgia. And now a group of American investors and airline professionals is determined to bring it back to the market, not just as an airline, but, more broadly, as a premium travel and lifestyle brand.
Will they succeed? Check it out in my latest CNN article.
