New podcast episode with Eric Lithun, founder of Elfly
Eric Lithun is a man with a mission.
An accomplished software entrepreneur, after selling his previous business, Eric decided to focus his creative and managerial energies on the sustainable aviation field.
Being based in Norway’s fjord-capital, Bergen, it was just natural that Eric’s sustainable aviation project would have a close link to the sea and water: Elfly is a startup developing an all-electric, battery-powered seaplane.
Unlike other electric aircraft projects that have had to be scaled down or converted to hybrid propulsion due to the limitations of current battery technology, Elfly’s seaplane has a very clear set of use cases that are feasible even with today’s limited range options. After all, what is needed is an aircraft that is able to bridge the often short stretches of water that pose and obstacle to everyday communications in places like Norway or the Maldives.
If and when electric aviation takes off, Norway is almost certain to be on the on the front row and Eric’s Elfly wants to be part of that story.
Tune in for a fascinating chat about electric seaplanes and how Eric and his team are working to overcome the obstacles that have kept seaplane flying in a small market niche for the last few decades and how this type of aircraft is likely to play an increasing role in regional air transport in a not so distant future!
