Big city seaplanes are a thing (again!)

I know I am a bit late to write about this one and is not exactly breaking news, but here are Allplane we are totally fascinated by seaplanes!

(a topic we have covered in this podcast episode with Rob Ceravolo, founder of Tropic Ocean Airways, in this other one with Aaron Shaw, founder of Sydney Seaplanes and, still another one also on with the founder of electric seaplane startup Equator Aircraft, from Norway).

And I couldn’t pass the opportunity to comment on the launch of regular seaplane service between Manhattan’s East River (just found out there is a seaplane station there - code NYS) and Boston, operated by Tailwind Air.

The 75min-long service on a 8-seater amphibious Cessna Caravan is not exactly cheap (a random search in late August tells me its about $800 return, while you can find regular commercial flights for around $100 for the same route), but it brings the convenience of flying downtown to downtown (actually midtown to midtown on this particular route!) between two cities where there is certainly no shortage of people with the means and willingness to skip the hassle of big city airports.

And there are also the views to enjoy of course!
