S7 launches subscription service S7 Boost
Subscription services have become a feature of present day consumption habits and airlines are adapting its product offerings to this reality. Subscriptions offer a nice way to generate a regular income stream, while also having loyalty, data and customer engagement advantages (not too mention as well the fact that there is usually a % of subscribers that never got to make full use of the package, which amounts to, essentially, free money for the issuer).
Russian airline S7 (whose many innovative initiatives, digital and otherwise, we’ve been covering here) has launched a subscription service S7 Boost, which give its members access to a certain number of advantages.
This is pretty much the same concept that Wizz Air has been using for quite some time. You pay a monthly or annual fee (around €30) and get access to the advantages and discounts. In the case of Wizz’s programme I recall the fact that even if you only fly a couple of times a year with them, it was well worth it, a no brainer.
In the case of S7, the subscription programme comes in two tiers, S7 Boost Light and S7 Boost Turbo (which is not yet publicly available). The former, which costs 149 Rubles per month (or about $2 at today’s exchange rate) lets you choose seats for free, get extra frequent flyer miles and get access to certain discounts (for comparison, the “choose your seat” option during the booking process costs 300 Rubles. The latter, Turbo, option has all of the above, plus extra frequent flyer miles and discounts in pretty much all the remaining ancillaries (ticket changes, food on board, baggage fees, etc).
At the moment the S7 Boost website is only available in Russian (which makes sense since I guess +95% of passengers are of this nationality, specially in this time of border closures).
