We are all familiar with the concept of “international airport”, but in some cases this label takes a literal meaning…

On this CNN article I compiled a list of airports that are accessible from more than one country and, in some cases, managed by more than one country, because they sit, literally, on an international border.

Basel Euroairport, which serves three countries (France, Switzerland and Germany) and whose status is regulated by a unique web of international treaties, is perhaps the most significant case, but there are others: Geneva (Switzerland/France) and Tijuana (Mexico/US) are other major examples, Gibraltar is on the border line, but the international access did not materialize and, then, there are the cases of several airfields that straddle the US-Canada border…To find out more you will need to read this piece!
