Air France Protect, sanitary safety as a marketing differentiator
As airlines are preparing for a (so far limited) comeback this summer, a new element appears.
How to choose which airlines to fly at a time when Covid-19 is still a latent risk? Which airlines are safer to fly, if any?
Well, with most of the major airlines adopting similar safety measures, such a making sure people wear masks and there are sanitary wipes and plastic globes available (and aircraft manufacturers like Airbus making an effort to explain the in-built safety systems aircraft have) I guess it comes down to how to make people feel safe.
And it is in this context that Air France Protect sees the light. This is a new label that the French flag carrier is using to communicate about a number of procedures and precautions that it is implementing onboard its flights. Nothing really revolutionary. As you can see in this brochure (in French) most of these measures are kind of common sense (like wearing masks or spacing boarding to ensure some distancing)…
Nevertheless, I found it interesting that, with Air France Protect, the French airline is coming up with some branding elements to reassure passengers, an element of differentiation, if you want.
Looking forward to seeing how other major airlines choose to communicate on this front…
