The last two decades India has seen a commercial aviation boom that, by some measures has led it to become the third largest air travel market in the World, after the US and China.

The exuberant growth in the number of passengers, aircraft and airlines has not translated in profits for most of its operators, tough.

The recent demise of Jet Airways has again put the spotlight on the way legacy operators have had problems coping with the fare wars unleashed by very competitive low cost airlines.

An interesting new chapter of India’s commercial aviation industry starts with the qualitative step forward that most of these Indian low cost airlines are preparing for: their expansion into the international markets.
