Rossiya to launch international routes from Moscow

Aeroflot subsidiary Rossiya has stepped in to partly fill the gap left by Transaero's demise at Moscow Vnukovo airport.

Rossiya , which until now was focused exclusively on routes to and from St.Petersburg, will, thus, open a subsidiary operation at Moscow Vnukovo with flights to Vienna, Salzburg and Prague.

Wondering whether this is an opportunistic measure to provide, at short notice, extra capacity to Aeroflot (that owns 100% of Rossiya ) or it is the start of a more strategic move that will see Aeroflot's subsidiaries specializing along service lines (premium/mid-market/budet) rather than geographical as until now.
