If last summer we explained how a new airline was taking off in Lithuania, Air Lituanica, on the back of a partnership agreement with Estonian Air, the landscape has changed radically in the last few weeks.
A press release issued by Air Lituanica a few days ago announced the unexpected break-up of the Estonian partnership. Not only that, but the two airlines are now immersed in a dispute following reciprocal claims of non-repayment of debts. Here are the Air Lituanica's and Estonian Air's versions of the story.
The break-up does not seem to affect Air Lituanica's expansion plans, though, as the inauguration of their new Paris route, in February next year, is still in the agenda, and the Lithuanian airline plans to add another aicraft to its fleet next year too.
