While the jury is still out on whether Bitcoin will consolidate as a stateless virtual currency, airlines are starting to accept it for payments...

Air Lituanica, a Vilnius-based upstart airline that we have already covered extensively in this blog, is now accepting Bitcoin when booking flights and apparently they already had their first paying customer, a Netherlands-based traveler that bought a return ticket between Amsterdam and Vilnius. Passengers willing to use this option will see their bitcoins exchanged into Euros or Lithuanian Litas at the market exchange rate.

It will be interesting to see whether other airlines join the trend anytime soon!
